Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 28 September 1986. Latimer talks of his early years in New York City. He describes his family life, religious and educational experiences, and his contact with various races. He tells of his conversion to the Mormon Church and its impact on his life. He also comments on his courtship and marriage.
